HASH #1619 – THE “FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE” BEER LOVER’S HASH – Alias and Larry

WHEN: MONDAY, MONDAY, 6:30 PM MONDAY MAY 5th

WHERE: Start at Ryan’s Pub, corner of Forbes and Braddock in East Pittsburgh. Apre will be at Howard’s Park Place Pub, 534 Peebles Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15221-3279 (in Pittsburgh we would say the bar that used to be Donny’s) and we will be there about 9:00 PM.

WHAT: The “From Russia with Love” Beer Lover’s Hash

Hey Boys and Girls, remember the hash moves to Monday night this week. the Monday after the marathon is always an “easy” day, at least the running part, with the annual “Beer Lover’s Hash”. This term comes from only that the focus that day is on the beer, not on the running. It doesn’t mean that you will be treated to $12 microbrews from around the world.

The theme this year (they always have one) is from Russia with Love, and the beer stops will reflect that. This includes a lot, and each of several beer stops will reflect something from the theme. Feel free to come in costume. The beer wenches along the way and I will. This would include this past year’s winter Olympics, the invasion of Ukraine, the anti-gay laws, or taking it another way, the James Bond angle. Expect the unexpected, don’t expect to remember it, call in late to work Tuesday morning, and get a designated driver.

Remember this is semi contra, though a normal person could easily get enough free beer along the route, a hasher may want to bring money for beer before and after (and to chime in for down-down beer). I would love to see some imaginative costumes, I already can’t wait to see the beer wenches in theirs!

Apre will be at Howard’s Park Place Pub (in Pittsburgh we would say the bar that used to be Donny’s) and we will be there about 9:00 PM. Note, we cannot drink outside in the back or in front, you have to get friendly in this cozy bar and drink inside. Neighbors that see people drinking outside call the cops, they come down and shut the bar down. Of course, we could move the party then, but Dee Dee (the bar tender) would be very mad at you.
