Dress Code: Everyone should wear a green dress!
What: The 2016 Green Dress Run will be held on Saturday, March 19th. For the fourth consecutive year, it will be brought to you by Old Crusty Dick and Purple Princess.
We will begin and end at Carson City Saloon on the South Side. They are good enough to give us the use of their upstairs (waiving the usual rental fee), as well as our own bartender for pre- and post-run. They’re also giving us a nice deal on food and beer, including a vegetarian/vegan option on the menu. Thanks, Carson City!
Trail will be dog-friendly, but Carson City is not.
Like last year, this year’s GDR will be a charity event. This time benefiting the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. The Food Bank is an organization that I (OCD) got involved with last year. I’ve been very moved by seeing how much people are helped by their efforts, and am very proud to be one of their volunteer liaisons. Thank you, Purple Princess, for agreeing to use them as this year’s charity! And I’d like to thank all of YOU, in advance, for coming and donating!
Your $20 donation (same as last year) will cover all beer stops, food at the apres, and a certain amount of beer at the apres (to be determined). It will also give you lots of warm-and-fuzzy feelings inside from the knowledge that you’ve helped local families in need. Last year, we raised $698 (after expenses) for the Animal Rescue League of PA. Let’s see if we can top that this year for the Food Bank!
