Son of the Return of the St. David’s Day Hash

March 1, 2023 6:30pm
Hares: Whiff (412-979-3314) and Gooey Decimal (412-716-9118)
Redbeard’s Bar & Grill, 201 Shiloh St, Pittsburgh, PA 15211

After a two-year COVID-inspired hiatus, St. David returns for another round of hide-the-leek. Not only is March 1 the prime day for Welshmen to drink themselves legless, it’s also the somethingth anniversary of Gooey Decimal turning 30. So c’mon out and buy the wee lass a beer and raise your glasses to the Patron Saint of Wales. Sometimes you just have to stop and smell the daffodils.

Bring yer penny farthings because not all of the beer stops are in the wilds or on the hares. Like so many hashes, trail is Fido-friendly but the indoor gatherings are not.

This is a POORTEX approved hash.

ICH3#17 Beets – You Can All Kiss My Blarney Stone

This is our 17th hash, on March 17th, starting out of Helltown on 17th street in the strip. There’s a bit of a theme here if you can’t tell. Unlike the last few Iron City hashes, this will be a live-hared trail.

If you can catch the hare, you get some lucky charms from my pot-o-gold.

Be festive and dress for the occasion.

Sooooooooo… Join Iron City on yet another boozy Friday night trail.

Bring a headlamp, maybe some monies for contras, and a good appetite for beer.

Expect to be disappointed.

Cum as you are. We promise nothing, and bring even less to the table.

Bring 17 Virgins.

We never charge hash cash.

Attendance is mandatory.

DS#94 – DarkSide Marathon @ Clap and Cockle's House
Apr 15 @ 11:00 am – 11:45 pm

What: DarkSide Marathon
Where: TBC and Cockles house, 3952 McClure Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15212
When: Meet at 11am or so to go over everything and get situated. First mile at 11:30ish.
Why: To push ourselves harder and longer, but only partially in the dark this time!

After a resounding success last year, DS Marathon is back (RIP DS Overnight). We’re doing a ~2 mile an hour event, with a DarkSide twist…because…well…DarkSide doesn’t do it the easy way. The end goal is going to be a marathon of distance over the span of 12 hours, with activities to keep us active!

Some activities that we’re planning on doing: cooking food, cornhole, and also…a whole fucking PGH trail!!

Schedule:
Meet at 11am
Review routes, get situated, get ready
11:30ish: Out and back, the long leg
After that, 1 mile every 30 minutes

PGH hash in the middle

Hash cash: $20 This covers beer, food, games, beer making, etc. Anything left over goes to a charity.

Also, for each mile that you don’t do, you pay $1 extra that we will pay out to the charity, which is World Central Kitchen: https://wck.org/

Hash #2066: PGH-DS Crossover @ Clap and Cockle's House
Apr 15 @ 2:00 pm

In the midst of the DS marathon—a Pgh trail! It’s gonna get fuckin’ weird.

Hares:  DS Mismanagement

So, there we were….drinking beer….discussing DarkSide Marathon.  We had a fun idea…nay, a brilliant idea….NO, a brilliantly stupid and fun idea!  Why don’t we do the PGH hash in the middle of the DS Marathon!?!?!?  Add some spice and variety to things.  Add pure cacophony into the mix.

The details:  DS Marathon is a charity event.  For this part of it, you’ll pay $5

More details to come later.

Hash #2077, Shameless Anal Furry Fun! @ Allegheny City Brewing
Jul 1 @ 1:00 pm

We’re going on safari! Anthrocon is happening this weekend, complete with a block party to party with the furries! So bring your binoculars (or just your cell for fun pics) and help us find all the furry wildlife we can!

De-TAILS

Bring your money and ID because on-out and beer stops are on you. Circle beer is on the hares.
If you want to dress festive, feel free! We might find a little hill or two, but the shiggy index for this trail is damn near zero.
For on-after, ACB might have a food truck, or we can see what the crowds are like and what the pack is feeling.
Trail is at 1:00pm. Pay attention.
Technically, trail is doggo friendly, but it’s up to you if Fido will freak out with a bunch of life-sized stuffed animals running around.

What: Float n Bloat!!!!!!!!!
Where: Redbank Valley Municipal Park 137 Park Rd, Fairmount City, PA 16224 *Meet at Pavilion 4*
When: Saturday July 15th @ 10:30 AM
Hares: K9 and High & Dry
$20 hash cash
https://hashrego.com/events/hash-2079-float-n-bloat-2023

It’s time for everyone’s favorite hash event, FLOAT N’ BLOAT! Take a scenic drive up Route 28, just over an hour north of the Burgh, to K9’s hometown of New Bethlehem and beyond. Bring an inflatable floatation device. I’m going to ask that folks not bring their kayaks because it’s more fun when we are all at the mercy of the current and float at the same speed. If you must bring your kayak, consider yourself no longer my friend.
Camping is available at the Redbank Valley Municipal Park at no additional cost to you. We have rented Pavilion 4. It is on the right as you drive through the park. Look for H3 signage.
What we will provide: Beer on trail, Lunch on trail before the float, Dinner back at the campground, Mountain Pie fixins, Games, Firewood, Salt
What you should bring: Floatation device Inflator (there should be several to use but bring one if you have it), Headlamp if you’re camping, Water shoes, Towel, Dry clothes, Sense of adventure, Cooler, Beer for after trail, Snacks, Camp chair, Tent/sleeping things
Please bring your own small cooler for the float. We will transport your coolers and floats to the put-in location. Do NOT blow up your floatie. We will have time to inflate while eating lunch. Feel free to BYO food and beverages for partying into the night.
This is a family campground (but they have been warned about us) so I ask you all to use your common sense and be respectful! Camping is available Friday night but everything is BYO. The campground is on the Redbank Valley Rail Trail so bring your bike and plan to ride on your own Friday or Sunday. You’re on your own for breakfast both days. Any questions or concerns, contact K9 @ (412) 951-2577.
